Engineering Release: Public Service Loan Forgiveness Data Integration with Mohela
September 8, 2022 | 2mins Read

What happened:

In July, all borrowers who were enrolled in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program were migrated from FedLoan to Mohela. Starting in August, this data was made available to borrowers.

How we responded:

Spinwheel’s engineering team completed the PSLF data integration with Mohela within two weeks of launch. Partners are now able to pull the same data from Mohela that was available with FedLoan.

Why it matters:

For borrowers enrolled in PSLF, it’s incredibly important that they are able to access and track their progress within the program. Spinwheel provides rich data on PSLF to its partners so that that borrowers can access information such as:

  • Expected forgiveness eligibility date
  • Number of ineligible and eligible transactions
  • Qualifying and non qualifying transactions
  • Reasons for non-qualifying transactions, such as payments that may require employment verification

Team Shout-Outs: Huge shoutout to Sam Graska, Vijay Kallepalli, and then rest of the engineering team for launching this capability so quickly!
