Spinwheel is excited to welcome Bill to the team! Bill will be leading our Engineering team, focusing on building best-of-breed finance solutions through the use of AI, data governance, and innovative agentic workflows. We sat down with Bill to learn a bit more about him!

What inspired you to join Spinwheel?

The culture and the innovative products that the company is building. From the moment I met the people who worked at Spinwheel, I knew I had found a home of like-minded and diverse people. The leadership team shares my values and goals and I was very excited to be a part of this team. The offerings the company brings to market are truly unique in the industry and I am excited to be part of this mission.

What excites you most about our mission to transform the consumer credit ecosystem?

The macroeconomics of the industry are uncertain. This affects all of us in a variety of ways. The company is positioned to offer B2C and B2B products that can really make a difference in the lives of people. When I look for a company to join, the product/s they offer are very important to me. I think that Spinwheel can, and will, revolutionize the future of debt and finance management for many people. This is an ethically responsible company and one that I am excited to be a part of.

Spinwheel is deeply rooted in innovation—how do you foster a culture of experimentation and technical excellence within teams?

It is important to build a culture where people feel free to try new things, explore ideas and yes, make mistakes. In fact, a team should celebrate when things don’t go as expected. By creating and maintaining this feeling of safety within the organization, people feel free to take chances and experiment with new ideas. This is especially true with emerging technologies such as AI, agentic workflows, and creative MCP based solutions. The more you celebrate the things that don’t work, the faster innovation can occur.

What emerging technologies or trends in fintech and data infrastructure are you most excited about right now?

Like everyone in this space, AI and AI based technologies are the focus of fintechs. Companies that are not learning and leveraging AI technologies are already behind. In my mind, AI is simply the beginning of these foundational technologies. AI and quantum-based technologies working together will allow for predictive modeling, automation, and testing to take place in ways that AI alone cannot do.

What has impressed you so far about Spinwheel’s teams and culture they have built so far?

The culture that Spinwheel has fostered is very impressive. One of its biggest strengths is the diversity of the team and how well people work together and self organize. In addition, the leadership team’s cultural philosophy aligns with my philosophy of leading through safety and security and not leading through fear. It is hard to cultivate a culture like this, but the team has succeeded and it is a pleasure to come to work each morning.

What areas are you looking to expand and grow within the Engineering team?

We are an AI-first company which means we rely heavily on emerging technologies. I am looking to expand our knowledge and capabilities in this area while we revisit fundamental technologies like our database and platform backends. Hosting sensitive data comes with its own challenges regarding compliance and security. Providing this data in meaningful ways to our partners and clients is essential. As we continue to grow, I am excited to be part of modernizing the ecosystem in ways that improve security, efficiency, and performance, ensuring we meet the demands of our partners and clients.

What is the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I ever received was from a highly skilled and experienced CEO. It is simply this: “The investment in others is the best investment you will ever make.” I have found this to be true many times over and it has served me well in each leadership role I undertake.
