An adverse action occurs when a lender, employer, landlord, or other decision-maker takes action against you based in whole or in part on information in a consumer credit report. If you are denied credit based on information in your consumer report, you may receive an Adverse Action Notice from the business.

Request a copy of the consumer report used.
Dispute inaccurate information.
Know which credit reporting agency provided the report.
